How To Secure BIR-Importers/Brokers Clearance Certificate.

Importers and Brokers Accreditation are currently process by the BIR and a lot of companies are having hard time securing the corresponding clearance certificate. The BIR recently issued advisories on the new procedures. For those who are not aware, you may open the following links for ICC/BCC APPLICATION and FOLLOW-UP. These are found at BIR website home page under the Advisories. The lists of the Release Tax Clearance are also available at the said site under the Announcements, Tax Clearance links.

Additional information are provided in Revenue Memorandum Order (RMO) Nos. 10, 22 and 33, 2014 and 1-2015.

According to the Advisory, effective July 1, 2015 no personal follow-up will be entertained by the Accounts Receivable Monitoring Division (ARMD) instead it will only be thru email.

TIN Application For Employment Purposes.

You're a newly hired employee and you don't have yet your needed Tax Identification Number. Don't fret about it just asks your employer where (RDO) the company is registered, then go there and submit with the concern personnel of the Taxpayers Assistance Unit or to the Officer of the Day the following documents:

1.   Triplicate copy of the duly accomplished BIR Form 1902, (let your employer fill up the applicable sections of the form)

2.   NSO Birth Certificate,

3.   Marriage Contract, if applicable

4.   Waiver of husband to claim additional exemptions, if applicable

5.   NSO Birth Certificate of dependent/s, if applicable.

You are required to file the said form within ten (10) days from date of employment.

For applicant with existing TIN but registered with the RDO different from the RDO of the employer, you need to transfer your TIN registration using the BIR Form 1905. (procedures will be tackled in another post).

For those who has a TIN but with a taxpayer type of EO 98 or ONETT, you need to update it by submitting BIR Form 1902 (indicating your TIN) and the required documents as mentioned above. 

Please be reminded that application for multiple TINs is not allowed and punishable by law. You may PERSONALLY call the BIR Contact Center at 981-8888 to avoid such violation. For TIN verification, the center does not entertain caller other than the owner.

And lastly, submission of such application is usually simultaneous with the submission of the BIR Form 2305. This is for the update of employee's information and qualified dependent children only.

Application for Tax Identification Number (TIN) for One Time Transaction Only

It was the usual manic Monday. The traffic was heavy and everyone was in a rush. It was already 7:30am and I don't think I can still manage to attend the flag ceremony, I opted to interview the taxi driver. He was on his late 50's and he said he was trying to make ends meet. Fortunately, he has a daughter who recently graduated from college and who was trying to look for a job. He also mentioned that she was applying for an NBI Clearance at the City Hall and Tax Identification Number (TIN) she does not have yet. She was confuse where to get her TIN. I told him about the procedures and requirements to get one and I was able to guide him before we part our ways.

So, to those who need a TIN, please find below the documents you need to bring before you go to the Revenue District Office (RDO).  

For individual who need a TIN as required in their application with any government agencies, such as Department of Foreign Affairs (DOF) for passport, National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for NBI Clearance, or for ever other purposes. You may apply for a TIN based on the category of taxpayer registering under Executive Order (E.O.) 98.  Here are the necessary requirements and procedures:

1. Tax Form - BIR Form 1904 - Application for Registration of One Time Taxpayer And Persons Registering Under EO 98 (securing a TIN to be able to transact with any government office) 
2. Birth Certificate or any valid IDs showing your name, address and date of birth.

The duly accomplished BIR Form 1904 together with the birth certificate will be submitted to the RDO where your residence is under jurisdiction. The BIR Form is available in the RDO or you may downloand and print a copy from this link: http://www.bir.gov.ph/birforms/form_apl.htm.

The issued TIN will be your permanent number and you may use it when you apply for a job or register your own business. But any modification needs to be applied using the BIR Form 1905 and such update is due upon date of employment or before the commencement of your business.  

How to get a Certificate of Non-filing of ITR for Scholarship Grant.

Hi there!  Summer vacation is almost over although the scourging heat of the sun does not show any sign of diminishing its high temperature yet.  My children are still “bitin” and wanted it even longerrrrrrrr. But, we have to face the reality that the school year 2014 – 2015 will be opening soon. Thus, my topic for today will be in relation to the impending enrollment period for the said school year.

 

Recent news says more than 300 private schools will be increasing its tuition fees (oh no!). No problem for the rich people but to numerous parents who experience perennial enrollment fees problem, it’s a BIG dilemma. So, to all smart and tough students, who cannot be stopped by such problem and will be availing of the school’s scholarship, you might be needing your parents’ Certificate of Non-Filing of the Income Tax Return from the BIR.

 

And to get such certification, you need to coordinate with the Taxpayer Service Section of the Revenue District Office (RDO) having jurisdiction over the location of your residence. You need to submit a written request for such certification together with the following documents:

 

A.   Affidavit of non-filing of ITR (Notarized) stating therein the following:

1.    Name of parents with no work

2.    Name of child

3.    Address

4.    Source of income

5.    Reason for non-filing of ITR

6.    Purpose of the certification

 

B.   Barangay Clearance

Request for such certification will cost you One Hundred Pesos (P100.00) for the certification fee and Fifteen Pesos (P15.00) for the documentary stamp tax.

Forgotten Tax Identification Number(TIN)

May 1, 2014 - Labor Day, news was all over the television. So much job fairs were available for the newly graduates, unemployed and underemployed people. 

By the way, one of the requirements of companies hiring new employees is their respective Tax Identification Number (TIN). And I have a good news to establishments having difficulty with the TINs of their newly hired personnel. I heard and learned that TIN Verification may now be done by:  

• sending TIN Verification request to this email address: tiedtinver@bir.gov.ph
• the subject line should all be capital letters and at this particular order; NAME OF THE OFFICE/COMPANY NAME,BRANCH/DIVISION/DEPARTMENT NAME, TINVER and DATE (mmddyy) - BATCH NUMBER  from 01.              

        example: (without branch)                    
                          SUBJECT: ABC CO TINVER 051114-01

                      (with branch)
                         SUBJECT: ABC CO CEBU TINVER 051114-01

• the proper and required format is as follows:           
  

TIN	FULL NAME	DOB	STATUS	REMARKS
NUMBER	(Surname,First, Middle)	(mm/dd/yr)

The data on the status and remarks will be provided by the BIR. So leave it blank.

•  if you want information on their respective Revenue District Offices (RDO), you may just provide another column between the DOB and STATUS.

• the full name and the date of birth are mandatory.
• the required minimum numbers for verification is 5 and the maximum is 10 per request.
• request is until 2:00 pm and send it only once.

But establishments which do not have branches and did not meet the required 5 minimum number per request need to submit a written request address to the Chief of the Public Information and Education Division (PIED). Processing of the said request will only proceed upon approval. All succeeding requests need to be approved by the PIED.

You are required to use only one company's official email address. 

For those who are using the Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail and others need to submit a copy of the Certificate of Registration (COR) or the BIR Form 2303 and also authorization to use a particular email address for TIN Verification.

To send the said documents, you may scan it and send to the same email address.

Please take note that the PIED does not provide the TIN NUMBERs. If an individual wants to verify his/her own TIN, he/she may call the BIR Contact Center at 981-8888 then select 1 or he/she may call the Revenue District Office.
